The program was recorded at Firth Hall, University of Sheffield. This was how the program started, as an outside broadcast - usually in a university.
We also received a £ 50 fee (which never happened on subsequent appearances).

Discovery Mastermind
The program was briefly resurrected for the Discovery satellite channel with Clive Anderson as questionmaster. Filming was in the Granada Studios, Quay Street, Manchester.

2004
After a brief spell as a radio show chaired by Peter Snow, the quiz returned to TV with John Humphrys as questionmaster.
Filming again took place at the studios in Quay Street which had become a joint Granada / BBC venture called 3sixtymedia
Not only did we not get a fee, but our accommodation did not include breakfast (although in the years after, this breakfast was restored)

2011
The above article was presented to me as a 'fait accompli'. Quotatioms were not actually spoken by me. My specialist subjects were "The Bernoullis" and "History of the Ruhr District".
2013
Filming now took place at the studios in Media City, on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal.
