Only two of my three appearances are available - see link to the right. These programs were mostly was recorded in the Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House. The first one in 1990 was recorded in the Paris Studio, Lower Regent Street, and a latter one was recorded in the Maida Vale Studios

Robert Robinson The original quizmaster was Robert Robinson.

Since 2009, Russell Davies has been the questionmaster. There is an article about him on this link.

For the first program in 1990, I received a fee of £50, plus £12 for its transmission on the World Service - and contestants would have received this again if they went through to the semi-final, etc.. Later this just became a flat fee of £ 50 no matter how far you progressed (having also evidently been dropped from the World Service).

Below is an image from the first show in 1990 with me and Margaret Jones, standing behind the scenes in the Paris Studio

What I remember from the second series I was in was that in the semi-final, during the final round, some kind member of the audience 'whispered' the answer to his companion loud enough for everyone to hear (although Robert Robinson et al. did not appear to hear, i.e they did not react). Listening to the program again, I was actually in the lead going into the last round, so ineviably there is this nagging doubt that maybe this member of the audience was responsible for me ultimately losing out.
